Job description
We are seeking a skilled Software Developer with a strong background in COBOL to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of software development processes and methodologies, particularly in a Kanban and Sprint environment. This role requires a proactive individual who can perform root cause analysis (RCA) on job abends and priority incidents, ensuring timely support and resolution. The candidate must be flexible with shifts and available for on-call support (24/7)., Develop, test, and maintain software applications using COBOL and related technologies.
Perform root cause analysis on job abends and priority incidents to provide effective support.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver high-quality software solutions.
Utilize tools such as SPUFI, File-Aid, Endevor, and Fault Analyzer for efficient development and debugging.
Participate in Agile methodologies, including Kanban and Sprint planning sessions.
Document processes, technical specifications, and user guides for software applications.
Maintain and optimize existing applications to improve performance and reliability.
Engage in continuous learning to enhance knowledge of the application and related technologies.
Requirements
Strong proficiency in COBOL programming.
Experience with JCL and SQL.
Familiarity with DB2 databases.
Proficient in Windows 7/10 and Z/OS operating systems.
Experience with TSO and ISPF environments.
Knowledge of tools such as SPUFI, File-Aid, Endevor, Fault Analyzer, Jira, IBM Developer, and IBM Explorer.
Strong analytical skills for quick RCA on job abends and incidents.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Skills:
Experience working in an Agile environment.
Familiarity with additional programming languages or technologies.
Knowledge of software development best practices and methodologies.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
5-7 years of experience in software development, with a focus on COBOL.
Proven track record of successfully delivering software projects on time and within scope.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes.
