Job description

  • Modifying moderately complex existing hardware (Server and networking), software, or operating systems to correct errors, to adapt it ot new technologies, or to improve its compatibility or performance.
  • Developing comprehensive technical documentation and system diagrams.
  • Maintaining identical environments on various servers and ensuring proper operation of these systems.
  • Managing and maintaining a secure infrastructure.
  • Developing and maintaining tools for automation, monitoring, and capacity planning.
  • Analyzing moderately complex technology needs and system requirements to determine feasibility of design, technical specifications and testing plans within time and cost constraints.
  • Working with developers to troubleshoot problems on servers in all environments and assisting with the integration of new code into production systems.
  • Assisting in the overall administration and improvement efforts of the employing section, as well as the goals and responsibilities of the Operations Office.

Requirements

A bachelor's degree in computer science or related field and experience in computer system development and modification. Relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis

Preferred Qualifications

Experienced knowledge of information technology system analysis, design, testing and maintenance techniques. Experienced knowledge of computer and network hardware, software, operating systems (Windows Server, Linux), programming languages, and other information technology tools/resources. Ability to solve basic to moderately complex problems and apply critical thinking skills to needs or problems, both individually and as part of a team. Ability to prepare status reports and basic moderately complex technical reports in a clear and concise manner. Ability to work effectively with users, vendors, staff members, and other IT units. Ability to follow technical directions. Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner. A+, Network+, Security+, Microsoft 365 certifications are desired. Employee is expected to be on-call 24/7 .
