Job description
- Assist in monitoring and analyzing security alerts using SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) tools such as Splunk or SolarWinds to detect potential threats.
- Support vulnerability assessments and research to identify weaknesses within network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, and cloud environments like AWS or Google Cloud Platform.
- Help implement and maintain security controls based on NIST standards, ISO 27000 series, and FedRAMP guidelines for cloud security compliance.
- Collaborate with network engineering teams to support the configuration of firewalls (Cisco ASA), IDS (Intrusion Detection Systems), IPS (Intrusion Prevention Systems), VPNs, and other security devices.
- Participate in incident response activities by assisting with threat detection, incident recovery, and system hardening processes across operating systems such as Windows, Linux, Debian, CentOS, and macOS.
- Contribute to the development of system security plans, disaster recovery procedures, and vulnerability management strategies aligned with ITIL and RMF frameworks.
- Conduct log analysis and network support tasks to ensure continuous monitoring of network protocols like TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS, and DNS for optimal performance and security.

This entry-level position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your expertise in cybersecurity while contributing to our organization’s resilience against evolving threats., * Fundamental understanding of computer networking concepts including LAN/WAN architecture, routing protocols, IPsec VPNs, DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP stack, and Ethernet.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles such as threat detection & response, vulnerability assessment & research, system hardening, encryption methods (FIPS compliance), and incident management.
- Familiarity with security tools like SIEM platforms (Splunk or SolarWinds), open-source scripting languages such as Python or Bash for automation tasks.
- Experience with network security devices including Cisco routers/switches, Cisco ISE for identity & access management (RBAC), firewalls (Cisco ASA), IDS/IPS systems.
- Understanding of cloud infrastructure security including AWS services (EC2, VPCs), cloud architecture best practices using Terraform or Ansible for automation.
- Ability to analyze logs from various sources like Fiddler or New Relic to identify anomalies or potential threats within complex IT environments.
- Strong foundation in computer science principles related to operating systems (Windows/Linux/Unix), system administration tasks (GPO management), and virtualization platforms such as VMware vSphere or Citrix.
