Job description

The marine electrical/electronic engineer will be responsible for developing harnesses, cables and electrical schematics for Marine propulsion/auxiliary engines, marine gensets, and other marine electronic products., * The engine harness design engineer is responsible for releasing and maintaining drawings of harness assemblies, wiring groups and related components. Design harnesses and related groups for new product and coordinate design changes for existing product. Engineer will either complete the detailing or manage the detailing to be completed by other teams.

  • Responsible for creating and maintaining Engineering Data System (EDS) and Global Product Geometry Replication (GPGR) models of harness assemblies, wiring groups and related components.
  • Create and conduct presentations for design concepts, design reviews and deep dives.
  • Assist assembly, quality, harness manufacturers and other groups by providing diagnostic and troubleshooting support, creating drawing deviations and Advanced Change Notices.
  • Develop and document best practices for harness creation, drawing accuracy and consistency for notes and views, engineering drawing checklists and cooperation with DCR team.
  • Assist in training of assigned personnel or co-workers.
  • Investigate new concepts and improvements for harness designs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’’s degree (or equivalent) in an accredited Electrical Engineering
  • 5 - 7 years of relevant work experience (min 2-year CAT Experience)
  • Proven abilities to work with internal teams and external suppliers
  • Highly organized person with proven electronic troubleshooting skills
  • Experience with CAD tools: Autocad, ProE, Creo, or other
  • Experience with Engineering Data System (EDS) and TeamCenter
  • Knowledge of APQP and PPAP process
  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools

Desired Qualifications:

  • Good communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills.
  • Experience with CAT Engines or Gensets
  • Experience reading/developing electrical schematics
  • Experience with CAT ET
  • Design experience with light structures, such as brackets for interface connector and sensor mounting locations.
