Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled E-Commerce Accountant with deep experience supporting online businesses, managing complex inventory operations, and integrating platforms like Shopify with QuickBooks or Finaloop. The ideal candidate understands the fast-moving nature of e-commerce and can ensure accurate financials, smooth system integrations, and strong inventory controls., * Manage all day-to-day accounting functions for e-commerce operations, including AP, AR, reconciliations, and month-end close.

  • Integrate and maintain Shopify-to-QuickBooks workflows, ensuring seamless data syncing for sales, fees, taxes, refunds, and payouts.
  • Monitor and reconcile e-commerce revenue channels, merchant processor statements, and marketplace fees.
  • Oversee and refine inventory accounting processes, including COGS tracking, FIFO/LIFO/weighted average methods, adjustments, and cycle counts.
  • Maintain accurate inventory valuations across multiple warehouses, 3PLs, or fulfillment partners.
  • Troubleshoot sync issues, system discrepancies, and mapping errors between Shopify, QuickBooks, and inventory tools.
  • Prepare financial reports analyzing revenue trends, product profitability, inventory performance, and cash flow.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and operational planning specific to e-commerce growth cycles.
  • Ensure compliance with sales tax rules, marketplace facilitator laws, and state nexus requirements.
  • Partner with operations, marketing, and fulfillment teams to improve data visibility and financial performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred but not required).
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years focused on e-commerce businesses.
  • Expert-level knowledge of Shopify and QuickBooks Online, including custom integrations and third-party apps.
  • Strong background in inventory accounting and cost accounting.
  • Experience working with 3PL integrations, inventory management systems, or ERP tools.
  • Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills and comfort with data imports/exports.
  • Detail-oriented, analytical, and capable of independently solving technical accounting issues.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with Amazon, TikTok, or other marketplaces.
  • Knowledge of sales tax tools
  • Exposure to high-volume SKU environments.
