Job description

The Level I Building Technology Assistant provides front line technical support for staff and students using district technology. This position ensures classroom technology, student devices, and building systems remain operational so instruction can continue without interruption., * Follow all Wawasee Community School Corporation policies and applicable state and federal regulations related to school technology.

  • Serve as the first point of contact for building technology support by responding to Helpdesk tickets and escalating issues when necessary.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Chromebooks, workstations, printers, and classroom technology.
  • Install, configure, and test hardware and software to ensure proper operation for staff and student use.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of assigned technology equipment and track device deployments within the building.
  • Ensure building technology equipment remains functional and coordinate repair or replacement when necessary.
  • Assist staff and students in the effective use of instructional technology tools and applications.
  • Support and help coordinate online testing to ensure devices and systems are prepared and functioning properly.
  • Assist with the annual distribution, collection, and management of student devices.
  • Work cooperatively with other members of the technology department to support district technology initiatives.
  • Maintain familiarity with Google Chrome and Microsoft Windows operating systems.
  • Stay current with evolving technology used within the Corporation and apply that knowledge to improve support and operations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Information Systems Manager, Director of Operations, Principal, or Superintendent.

Physical Demands: Must be able to talk, hear, sit, stand, walk, and use hands to handle objects. Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment: The work environment is a standard classroom/office setting with moderate noise levels.

Terms Of Employment: Length of school year and salary determined by the Wawasee Community School Corporation School Board.

Evaluation: Performance evaluation will be conducted according to the school district’s policies and guidelines.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one year of computer or technology-related experience.
  • Experience providing end-user technical support with a helpful, responsive, and professional approach.
  • Experience working in a school environment or with children preferred.
  • Working knowledge of computer hardware and software in a networked environment.
  • Familiarity with asset management and basic productivity applications such as word processing and spreadsheets.
  • Ability to assist students and staff with learning platforms, productivity tools, and web-based applications.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems and make practical decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt as new technologies are introduced into the school system.
