Job description

As an Intermediate Architect / Job Captain at HHA, you will play a key role in advancing projects from design development through construction, with a strong focus on documentation, coordination, and execution., Documentation & Coordination

  • Lead the development and organization of construction document sets
  • Translate design intent into well-resolved, buildable drawings
  • Maintain consistency with office standards and ensure overall drawing quality
  • Coordinate subconsultants and integrate their work into project documentation

Technical Execution

  • Demonstrate strong understanding of building systems, materials, and detailing
  • Apply working knowledge of building codes and regulatory requirements
  • Contribute to quality control across all phases of documentation and delivery

Requirements

Heitler Houstoun Architects (HHA) is an award-winning, Manhattan-based architecture and interior design studio seeking talented and motivated Intermediate Architects / Job Captains to join our growing team. This is an opportunity for design-driven professionals with strong technical expertise who are eager to take on increased responsibility within a highly collaborative, detail-oriented practice.

We are looking for candidates with 3-5 years of post-graduate professional experience (5-year B.Arch or M.Arch), licensed or pursuing licensure, who are currently based in the New York City area or able to relocate in the near term.

Who You Are

You are technically rigorous, detail-oriented, and confident in translating design concepts into clear, coordinated construction documents. You thrive in a fast-paced studio environment where collaboration, accountability, and design excellence are core values. You take initiative, communicate clearly, and are comfortable managing portions of a project with increasing independence., * Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit required

  • Working knowledge of SketchUp, Rhino and V-Ray preferred
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)

Project Leadership & Collaboration

  • Support internal project management within small teams (2-3 members)
  • Help manage schedules, deadlines, and coordination across disciplines
  • Communicate effectively with team members, consultants, and clients

Project Experience (Preferred)
