Requirements

An individual who has resigned or taken a voluntary demotion in good standing from a position in the Civil Service of the City of Reno and who desires placement on a re-employment list may, within three (3) years of the resignation or demotion, submit a written request to the Commission for re-employment in any classification(s) previously held in which the individual had obtained confirmed status. An individual seeking re-employment must provide a new application and meet the current minimum qualifications for the classification for which re-employment is sought.

Further, prior to employment an individual must satisfy any pre-employment screening criteria established for the subject classification. Supplemental Information Upon approval of the request by the Commission, the name of the applicant will be placed on the re-employment list for such classification, subject to the following conditions. Placement on the re-employment list will be for an eligibility period of one (1) year from the date of Commission approval. Eligibility may be extended for up to an additional three (3) years provided the individual re-applies each year before the expiration date of the individual’s last eligibility period. Individuals who are appointed from the re-employment list under this rule shall serve a new probationary period pursuant to these Civil Service Rules and Regulations. A former City employee whose name is on a laid off list under Rule XII, Section 7, may, prior to the expiration of the three (3) year period on the laid off list, request to be placed on the re-employment list, pursuant to the provisions of this Rule.
