Job description

We are seeking a motivated and customer-focused IT Support Technician to provide onsite technical support for Birmingham City Schools. This role is ideal for someone with strong troubleshooting skills, excellent customer service, and a passion for supporting end users in a fast-paced technology environment., The ideal candidate will be comfortable working independently as well as with a team, supporting Microsoft Windows environments, performing hardware and software troubleshooting, assisting users with technical issues, and maintaining excellent service standards. Candidates with entry-level IT certifications and Helpdesk experience are encouraged to apply., * Provide first-level IT support for end users

  • Receive, document, and manage support requests through the Helpdesk system
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, and Windows operating system issues
  • Use remote desktop tools to resolve technical problems
  • Escalate complex issues while meeting service level agreements
  • Support Microsoft Office applications and endpoint devices
  • Assist with firmware upgrades and basic network-related tasks
  • Track assets and maintain accurate service documentation
  • Identify user training opportunities and provide basic technical guidance
  • Collaborate with technical teams to resolve customer issues
  • Maintain excellent customer service while managing multiple support requests
  • Participate in technical discussions and continuous process improvements

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • At least one entry-level IT certification (A+, Network+, or OEM vendor certification)
  • 0-5 years of experience in a technical support or customer service environment
  • Helpdesk or Call Center experience preferred
  • Experience supporting Microsoft Windows operating systems
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Basic hardware and software troubleshooting skills
  • Knowledge of firmware upgrades and network applications
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to travel between locations using a Xerox vehicle
  • Ability to walk, stand for extended periods, and lift up to 50 pounds
