Job description
- Supporting and training operations staff and others in the use of our existing reporting system and enhancing the system through the development of reports, dashboards, and other metrics;
- Reviewing current business practices and offering technical solutions to create efficiencies and improve workflows; and
- Supporting a variety of other software systems such as meter reading, laboratory equipment and control system technologies., This position may be eligible for flexible work arrangements, including hybrid work with some days working remotely and some days working in the office.
Requirements
The City of Minneapolis does not sponsor applicants for work visas. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES *Knowledge of third-party software, such as Cognos, Tableau or other BI tools, SQL, Visio, Microsoft Applications, and Smartsheet.
- Strong ability to learn new applications and technologies.
- Experience with Python, JavaScript, Visual Basic or similar programming languages.
- Knowledge of database applications, software, and network systems. (Specific requirements vary depending on assignments).
- Knowledge of data connections to various databases and data transfer protocols.
- Ability to listen and understand user requests and issues and ask the right questions.
- Knowledge of business process modeling, project implementation, business analysis tools and techniques.
- Ability to train others in applications processes and procedures.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Good customer relation skills and the ability to act as liaison between technical and non-technical staff.
- Knowledge of the City and the Department operations and procedures (where assigned).
