Senior IT Engineer

We’re looking for a senior engineer who has run the inside of an MSP: someone who can architect and stand up our own internal systems, and who’s steady when a client site breaks in a way the runbook doesn’t cover. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in virtualization, cloud platforms, and distributed systems to ensure the stability, security, and scalability of our IT environment. Your proactive approach to engineering troubleshooting, system optimization, and automation will drive operational excellence across our organization. You’ll carry deep infrastructure expertise and you’ll build the AI-native muscle into how we run the MSP itself: using automation and AI to raise quality and lower cost across everything we deliver, internally and for clients. You’ll be one of our first technical hires, setting the standard other engineers build on as we grow, not inheriting one. This is a chance to help stand up a business with real backing and real upside, and build it the right way from day one.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain internal and client infrastructure across networks, servers, virtualization, cloud, backups, monitoring, and security.
• Administer Windows, Linux, VMware, Hyper-V, AWS, and Azure environments for performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.
• Serve as the final escalation point for complex server, network, cloud, virtualization, hardware, and on-site issues.
• Lead infrastructure projects from scoping and migration through deployment, documentation, and support.
• Build automation and AI into MSP operations using scripting, APIs, monitoring, ticketing, and documentation tools.
• Own security standards, including hardening, patching, endpoint protection, vulnerability management, and incident response.
• Evaluate technology, vendors, and architecture as client environments grow.
• Mentor technicians and create standards and runbooks that improve team independence.

• 7+ years in an MSP or similar multi-client IT environment.
• Strong experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, Linux, VMware, Hyper-V, AWS, and Azure.
• Advanced networking knowledge, including firewalls, VLANs, VPNs, routing, and troubleshooting.
• Strong cybersecurity background; Security+ required, CISSP or CISM preferred.
• Experience with Python, Bash, shell scripting, APIs, and infrastructure automation.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across servers, networks, cloud, virtualization, and hardware.
• Clear communicator who can explain technical decisions to clients and non-technical stakeholders.
• Comfortable serving as the final technical escalation point and working under pressure.
• Interest in applying AI and automation to infrastructure, security, and MSP operations.
• Comfortable building standards and processes as an early team member.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to regional client sites.

Pay: $110,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
