Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Computer Support Specialist to join the Center for Data Architecture, Intelligence & Support (DAIS). This role is critical to the New York State COVID-19 response and the broader management of Long-Term Care (LTC) data. You will serve as the bridge between complex data pipelines and non-technical staff, ensuring that data assets are maintained, documented, and accessible for high-priority healthcare analysis., * Data Pipeline Management: Run and maintain data pipelines feeding the OALTC Data Lake; perform routine database maintenance and variance analysis to validate COVID-19 statistics.

  • Technical Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive data dictionaries, research data assets, and map existing databases to ensure organizational clarity.
  • Liaison & IT Support: Coordinate with ITS to manage hardware/software installations for DAIS employees and troubleshoot device-specific issues.
  • Reporting & Analysis: Consolidate ad hoc reports to help DOH staff prioritize facility surveys and follow-ups.
  • Staff Empowerment: Act as a technical trainer, guiding DOH staff, providers, and consumers on data tools, best practices, and software navigation.

Requirements

  • Required: Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Access, Excel, SharePoint, Outlook).
  • Soft Skills: Ability to explain ā€œtechnical speakā€ to non-IT individuals; highly organized with the ability to work independently.
  • Preferred Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.
  • Technical Plus: Experience with SQL, Python, R, or Tableau is highly desirable.
  • Industry Experience: Previous experience creating data dictionaries or working in complex database environments.
