Job description
In this role, you will create Reinforcement Learning (RL) environments that evaluate AI models on complex software engineering tasks such as debugging, implementing new features, refactoring code, and optimizing performance. You will also develop reproducible environments and high-quality reference (“golden”) solutions that serve as benchmarks for AI training.
Applicants must have an active open-source profile (such as GitHub or GitLab) demonstrating meaningful contributions. Experience with C++, Python, Java, Go, TypeScript, or Rust is strongly preferred.
Scope of Work
- Design and develop reproducible Reinforcement Learning environments for evaluating AI software engineering capabilities.
- Contribute production-quality code, code reviews, and technical documentation to open-source repositories relevant to the project.
- Design, implement, and optimize complex algorithms and system components using one or more of the following languages: C++, Python, Java, Go, TypeScript, or Rust.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve bugs, performance bottlenecks, and architectural challenges within existing codebases.
- Create high-quality reference (“golden”) solutions for software engineering tasks.
- Collaborate with other contributors and project stakeholders to ensure deliverables align with engineering best practices.
- Maintain clear technical documentation to support reproducibility and knowledge sharing.
- Participate in code reviews and technical discussions, providing constructive feedback to improve overall code quality.
Requirements
- Demonstrated open-source contributions through GitHub, GitLab, or similar platforms.
- Strong proficiency in one or more of the following: C++, Python, Java, Go, TypeScript, or Rust.
- Deep understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including algorithms, data structures, debugging, and code optimization.
- Experience contributing to collaborative software projects.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while delivering high-quality technical work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working on large-scale, distributed codebases.
- Familiarity with AI or machine learning systems is a plus but not required.
- Experience participating in rigorous code reviews and promoting software engineering best practices.
