Job description

We are seeking an IT Support Specialist to join our team on site in Nashville, TN supporting our Tennessee-based subsidiary as a Cornell employee. This position is 100% on-site with consistent office hours. The ideal candidate will be tech-savvy with excellent verbal and written communication skills to provide reliable support to keep our technology running smoothly., As the IT Support Specialist, you will ensure smooth computer operations so end users can efficiently complete their work. This role involves receiving, prioritizing, documenting, and resolving help requests using diagnostic tools and providing hands-on, in-person desktop support.

What You’ll Do:

  • Manage and document support requests through the IT ticketing system.
  • Respond to end-user inquiries via phone and email with professionalism.
  • Gather detailed information about issues and build rapport with users.
  • Prioritize and escalate problems as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues using diagnostic tools and online resources.
  • Install, configure, and maintain software, hardware, and antivirus, and perform preventative maintenance on workstations and peripherals.
  • Verify fixes and follow up to ensure user satisfaction.
  • Analyze trends to prevent recurring issues and develop user guides and FAQs.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Windows?, Do you have a Associate’s degree?, * Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills

  • Knowledge of computer hardware (desktops, laptops, mobile devices).
  • Experience with Windows desktop and server operating systems.
  • Skilled in supporting applications like Microsoft Office, antivirus, Adobe, CAD, and scanner software.
  • Proficient with diagnostic utilities and technical research., An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Information Systems, 2-4 years of hands-on experience in IT support or a similar technical role. Equivalent work experience or relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified IT Professional) will also be considered., To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
