Job description

As a Junior IT & Communications Engineer, you will support customers with a wide range of IT and communications technologies. You’ll combine traditional IT support with hands-on engineering work, assisting with installations, configurations and customer projects.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing 1st and 2nd line technical support to internal and external customers.
  • Troubleshooting issues across Windows devices, Microsoft 365 and business applications.
  • Supporting Microsoft Teams, Teams Phone, Teams Rooms and unified communications technologies.
  • Assisting with the installation and configuration of IT and communications solutions.
  • Supporting onsite installations including meeting room equipment, displays, networking hardware and structured cabling.
  • Preparing, configuring and testing equipment before customer deployment.
  • Supporting senior engineers on customer projects and technical installations.
  • Maintaining accurate technical documentation.
  • Responding to support requests within agreed service levels.
  • Escalating complex technical issues when required.
  • Developing your technical knowledge through vendor training and practical experience.
  • Providing a professional, friendly and customer-focused service.

The role will involve travelling to customer sites across the UK, including occasional overnight stays where required.

Requirements

We are looking for someone who is passionate about technology and keen to build a career within IT and communications engineering.

You will ideally have:

  • A genuine interest in IT and technology.
  • Good knowledge of Windows operating systems and Microsoft 365.
  • Basic understanding of computer networking.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • The ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
  • A full UK driving licence.

Desirable Experience

It would be beneficial if you have experience with:

  • IT support, service desk or engineering environments.
  • Microsoft Teams, Teams Rooms or business telephony.
  • Networking equipment such as switches and firewalls.
  • Structured cabling or hardware installations.
  • Microsoft or vendor certifications.
  • An IT qualification, apprenticeship or relevant technical training.
