Job description

The Information Technology Specialist I (ITS I) serves as a technical expert for the Enterprise Integration Services Section (EISS) within the Information Technology Division (ITD). In this role, the ITS I analyzes, designs, develops, implements, documents, debugs, and supports complex enterprise interfaces and production batch operations.

Working independently, the ITS I provides enterprise-wide support for data integration across the FI$Cal Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. This includes developing and maintaining system interfaces, performing data conversions, supporting application enhancements, and managing production batch operations. The incumbent also delivers ongoing operational support and resolves production issues in a timely manner to ensure the FI$Cal system continues to meet business needs while incorporating emerging technologies and industry best practices. Throughout this work, the ITS I ensures that system solutions remain aligned with the department’s business and technology goals and objectives.

The ITS I plays a key role in documenting new system functionality, business processes, and data flows within the FI$Cal system. The incumbent also contributes to the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of ITIL and ITSM processes and procedures.

While the duties for this position primarily fall within the Software Engineering domain, work may be assigned in other domains as needed.

Effective July 1, 2025, the State of California implemented the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) which reduces an employee’s monthly salary in exchange for leave credits. Requirements

  • The position(s) require(s) a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired.

  • The incumbent provides back-up, as necessary, to ensure continuity of departmental activities., In addition to evaluating each candidate’s relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
  • Experience in Linux Operating System.
  • Experience developing and maintaining Shell, Bash, Python or PERL scripts for automation.
  • Experience in Production support operations.
  • Experience in Managed File Transfer Applications.
  • Experience in Enterprise Application Integration.
  • Experience in Batch scheduler applications.
  • Experience in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
  • Experience in Structured Query Language (SQL).
  • Experience with PeopleSoft Financial Supply Chain Management (FSCM).
  • Experience with Cloud Platforms.
