IT Product Owner - Payment Services

Experteer Overview As Product Owner for Costco IT’s retail payments domain, you define MVPs, shape the product roadmap, and deliver high-value payment features. You’ll serve as the voice of the customer, collaborating with Payments Committees and cross-functional teams to translate strategy into a prioritized backlog. You drive end-to-end delivery from design to deployment, focusing on secure, seamless member payments and revenue growth. This role sits at the heart of Costco’s transformation in a fast-paced, people-centric culture. Compensation / Benefits * Define and communicate MVPs and release plans for applications/products * Prioritize sprint backlog based on product roadmap priorities * Translate market insights and business objectives into product requirements * Collaborate on the retail payments roadmap with Treasury Payments and Payments Committee * Work with engineering and design to convert requirements into functional specs * Gather stakeholder feedback and iterate on designs for optimal UX * Monitor product performance and drive data-driven improvements * Stay current on retail payments trends and technologies * Collaborate with Product Managers and Systems Architects on new/enhanced functionality * Consult with Payments Committee and Treasury Payments for vision and guidance * Ensure work delivers maximum business value across teams * Define sprint plans aligned with product roadmap priorities * Refine requirements from sprint showcases/demos * Conduct functional reviews during sprint demos with PMs and Delivery Manager * Create and author user stories with acceptance criteria in the customer voice * Lead user acceptance testing with business and tech teams * Support PI planning and program-level ceremonies with stakeholders * Verify acceptance of stories through test plans and automation/manual testing as needed * Monitor and improve product health * Create secure, seamless payment experiences while maximizing revenue and minimizing risk * Provide payments expertise to support business growth and changing needs * Prioritize issue and defect resolution Tasks * 3+ years in retail payments with a track record of launching and managing payment products * Deep understanding of retail payment technologies (mobile, contactless, digital, POS) * Strong analytical skills to interpret data and identify opportunities * Excellent project management to deliver on timelines and budgets * Strong communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams * Creative problem-solving with a customer-centric product mindset * Familiarity with agile development in fast-paced environments * 5+ years creating documentation for varied audiences * Experience eliciting business requirements for specific programs/projects * Proficiency in business modeling, scoping, and use case creation * Experience with backlog management tools * Proven ability to work with stakeholders to define product vision and roadmap * Deadline-oriented with self-management abilities * Proficient with Google Workspace tools Key requirements * paid time off * health benefits * 401(k) * stock purchase plan * disability insurance * life insurance
