Job description
We are looking for a Junior BI Analyst to help us manage a large reporting project for our partner, a logistics firm based in Brussels. This role involves turning complex logistics data and financial metrics into clear, accurate reports that support better decision making. As a remote member of our team, you will focus on ensuring that every figure in a dashboard is verified and aligns with the core financial records of the business.
About Alpine Business Consulting Alpine Business Consulting works at the intersection of finance processes and the systems that support them. We specialize in Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) and analytics, helping finance teams fix platforms that never delivered on their promises. While we build new systems from scratch, much of our work involves remediating existing setups in Oracle EPM, SAP BPC, and Power BI. We focus on the numbers side of the house, ensuring that consolidation rules, intercompany eliminations, and reporting pipelines reflect how a finance team actually operates. Our approach moves away from typical implementation theatre. We prioritize finance-first configurations and fixed-price engagements, giving our clients certainty before any work begins. We do not believe in keeping clients dependent on us. Instead, we build administrator training and documentation into every project so teams can run their systems independently after go-live. We are a remote-first team of consultants who understand that a dashboard is only useful if the data is accurate to the cent and available the morning a period closes. Whether it is a cloud migration or a complex forecasting model, we value precision over presentation.
What You Will Do
- Support the cleaning and organization of data from different logistics systems to ensure it is ready for reporting.
- Assist senior consultants in building and maintaining data models within Power BI.
- Create and update financial reports that track key performance indicators for our Brussels-based partner.
- Perform detailed reconciliations to ensure that data in the BI tools matches the source financial records.
- Draft clear and simple technical documentation to help client teams understand how their new reports work.
- Participate in the testing phase of new system implementations to catch errors in consolidation rules or data mapping.
- Help monitor data pipelines to ensure that reports refresh correctly and on time for month-end closing.
- Prepare training materials for client administrators so they can manage their own BI environments after our work is done.
Requirements
- A basic understanding of financial reporting, accounting principles, or business mathematics.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, including the ability to use lookups and basic data organization techniques.
- A strong interest in learning business intelligence tools like Power BI or SQL.
- The ability to look at a large set of numbers and spot inconsistencies or errors.
- Good communication skills, specifically the ability to explain a technical problem in plain language.
- An organized approach to tasks and the ability to manage your own time in a remote work setting.
- Willingness to learn about EPM systems like Oracle or SAP through hands-on project work.
- Academic background in business, finance, data analytics, or a related field.
Benefits & conditions
- A fully remote position that allows you to work from your preferred environment without a commute.
- The chance to learn how enterprise-level financial systems are built and repaired by experts.
- A workspace where precision and accuracy are valued more than corporate presentation or buzzwords.
- Direct experience working on a significant project for a major logistics partner.
- A permanent, full-time contract with a clear focus on professional growth and skill building.
- A competitive salary that is attractive for an entry-level analyst in the current market.
- Mentorship from senior consultants who have deep knowledge of both finance and technology.
How We Work We believe that consulting should be about solving problems, not creating permanent dependencies. Our firm operates on fixed-price engagements, which means we define the scope of our work clearly and focus on meeting those goals efficiently. We do not use filler or perform tasks just for the sake of looking busy. Because our team is entirely remote, we rely on clear documentation and honest communication to stay aligned. Every project we take on includes a plan for handing over the keys: we make sure our clients are fully trained and equipped to run their own systems by the time we finish. We value consultants who take pride in the accuracy of their work and who prefer a straightforward, results-focused way of working.
