Job description

The RM&SH Engineer is responsible for ensuring the reliability, maintainability, and testability of systems, equipment, and processes throughout the project lifecycle. This role involves applying engineering principles and industry best practices to minimize operational risks, improve system availability, and ensure compliance with safety standards., * Analyze system requirements and develop an RM&SH engineering program plan to achieve RM&SH objectives.

  • Allocate and predict failure rates (Mean Time Between Failure) for components and systems and measure against program requirements.
  • Develop Reliability Block Diagrams (RBD) to represent the relationship between components of a system and asses overall system reliability.
  • Perform Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) to identify and mitigate risk of system failure and support proposed changes in design.
  • Assess Fault Detection and Fault Isolation metrics for Availability impacts and concerns.
  • Actively participate on design teams, provide guidance and recommendations to designers and management to ensure safety and reliability objectives are met.
  • Supervise testing and demonstrations at supplier, plant, or field locations to evaluate reliability factors, such as numbers and causes of unit failures or maintainability risks.
  • Conduct closed-loop Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) to establish root cause, failure trends, and opportunities to improve system reliability and safety.
  • Ensure adherence to industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company safety policies.
  • Engage directly with RM&SH Engineering capability to ensure compliance with BDS RM&SH requirements for people, processes, and tools.

Travel may be required up to 10% of the time; domestically and/or internationally depending on business needs.

This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (including manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • 9+ years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience
  • Experience in reliability, maintainability, and safety engineering within the aerospace, manufacturing, or related industries
  • Experience with reliability, maintainability, testability and safety standards
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and manage competing priorities, * Prior aerospace & defense experience in one or more of the following engineering domains - Avionics, Radar, Sensors, Hydro Mechanical, Mechanisms, Structural, or Reliability & Maintainability
  • Military experience, while not required, is desirable
  • Knowledge of aviation/aerospace certification & regulatory frameworks (FAA, MIL-HDBK-516C)
  • Experience in risk management and quality assurance processes
