Job description

Are you a Security Design Engineer looking for your next opportunity? As a Security Design Engineer, you will be responsible for producing detailed technical designs for security systems across a range of commercial, residential, and critical infrastructure projects, working closely with project managers, surveyors, and installation teams to ensure designs meet client specifications and industry standards. You will be joining an established company with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality security solutions to its customers., * Produce detailed security system designs using CAD and/or Revit software, including schematics, layouts, and cable schedules.

  • Design and specify security systems such as CCTV, access control, intruder detection, and intercoms in line with client requirements and British Standards.
  • Review and interpret architectural drawings, site surveys, and tender documentation to inform design outputs.
  • Liaise with project managers, estimators, and installation teams to ensure designs are accurate, buildable, and delivered on time.
  • Prepare and maintain design documentation, risk assessments, and as-built records throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support the pre-construction and tender process by providing technical input and design costings as required.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a security design role, with a strong working knowledge of CCTV, access control, and intruder alarm systems.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (such as AutoCAD) and/or Revit for the production of security system drawings and schematics.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings and translate these into accurate system designs.
  • Experience designing to relevant British Standards and industry guidelines, including BS EN 50132, BS EN 50131, and PD 6662.
  • Full UK driving licence (desirable, for occasional site visits).
  • FIA or SSAIB-recognised qualifications (desirable).
