Product Owner

Shape the Developer Experience at Rabobank.

As Product Owner for Nexa, Rabobank’s Internal Developer Platform, you play a key role in improving the Developer Experience (DevEx) for engineers across the bank. You own the product vision, roadmap, and priorities for platform capabilities that help teams discover, build, test, deploy, and operate software efficiently and securely.

You will operate at the intersection of product management, software engineering, and platform operations, enabling engineering teams to deliver software quickly and safely at scale.

You will guide two offshore squads in India, collaborate closely with platform engineers and architects, and align stakeholders across a complex enterprise environment.

• Define and execute the roadmap for Rabobank’s Internal Developer Platform.
• Enable engineering teams through self-service capabilities, platform automation, and developer tooling.
• Facilitate co-creation and InnerSource contributions while maintaining governance and quality standards.
• Balance developer experience, platform reliability, security, and operational excellence when making product decisions.
• Build strong connections between Product Owners in the Netherlands and offshore engineering squads in India.

• Align stakeholders on platform priorities, investments, and delivery expectations.

• Own and evolve the Nexa vision, roadmap, and backlog to improve Developer Experience and engineering productivity across Rabobank.
• Define and maintain platform governance, operational processes, quality standards, and release guardrails that enable engineering teams to innovate safely at scale.
• Build alignment across stakeholders and engineering teams while navigating competing priorities and organizational complexity.

The Area Engineering Journey has 6 Product Owners. They work together to build and evolve Nexa. Each Product Owner has a different focus area, but together they deliver value as one team.

This role requires proven experience with developer platforms, engineering platforms, or Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs). You have experience improving Developer Experience (DevEx) through developer-facing products, self-service capabilities, platform tooling, and engineering productivity initiatives. Experience primarily focused on platform operations, IT service management, business applications, data platforms, infrastructure platforms, or vendor-managed products is not considered a close match for this role.

• 15+ years of professional experience, including at least 7 years in Product Management of technical products and platforms.
• Demonstrable experience with Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs), developer portals, engineering platforms, Backstage, or similar engineering enablement products.
• Strong technical foundation with previous hands-on software engineering experience. You have worked as a Software Engineer, Platform Engineer, DevOps Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer, or similar technical role and can engage credibly with engineers on architecture, operations, security, and scalability topics.
• Experience managing technical platforms as products and balancing developer experience, feature delivery, reliability, security, and long-term platform health.
• Experience defining platform vision, strategy, and roadmaps and translating them into measurable outcomes and actionable backlogs.
• Deep understanding of platform governance, security, operations, support models, and quality standards.
• Strong understanding of co-creation (or InnerSource) models. You know how to create effective guardrails that enable contributors to deliver features quickly without compromising reliability, security, performance, or platform consistency.
• Exceptional stakeholder management, communication, and storytelling skills. You build trusted relationships, influence without authority, align diverse stakeholders, and navigate complex organizational environments with confidence.
• Experience collaborating with distributed teams and offshore engineering organizations.
• Experience with cloud-native technologies, open-source ecosystems, and SaaS products is considered a strong advantage.
