Job description

Under general direction of the Information Technology Services Division (ITSD), Enterprise Architecture Information Technology (IT) Manager I, the Gaming Solution Architect demonstrates a depth of leadership and expertise on a wide array of enterprise gaming-related functions and is responsible for ensuring California State Lottery (Lottery) business and Information Technology (IT) systems align with the organizations strategic goals and objectives. General responsibilities focus on structuring the governance, technologies, business processes, and data to oversee and guide architecture decisions relating to the Lottery’s enterprise gaming systems products and services, partners and vendors, enterprise capabilities, and key business and IT initiatives. The duties for this position are focused in the Business Technology Management, IT Project Management, Software, and System Engineering domains; however, work may be assigned in other domains as needed., This position is headquartered in Sacramento and is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule. Employees must be able to report to their assigned headquarters office as assigned. Travel expense to and from the assigned headquarters are the responsibility of the employee. Eligibility for telework requires the employee to reside in California per California Government Code Section 14200 which states: “telecommuting means the partial or total substitution of computers or telecommunication technologies, or both, for the commute to work by employees residing in California.

Requirements

In addition to evaluating each candidate’s relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

  • Experience in developing and maintaining As-Is, To-Be business flow diagrams for business applications working with business Subject Matter Experts.
  • Experience in creating user stories and epics to capture requirements to track the development of application features and functions.
  • Experience eliciting requirements through interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops and JAD sessions to produce all necessary functional and technical requirements.
  • Traced requirements from inception to completion (RTM) and performing application testing.
  • Experience in public speaking, communicating and translating complex technical concepts to non-technical team members.
  • Experience with project management and Enterprise Architecture best practices, with the ability to document processes and procedures as needed.
  • Self-motivated, working closely and actively communicating with team members to accomplish time critical tasks and deliverables.
  • Expert level experience leading and communicating with project teams to support project tasks and deliverables.

a. Schedule: This position supports the Lottery during normal business hours from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. unless otherwise approved by the unit manager. Weekends, long and/or irregular hours, after-hours work, and holiday work may be required.

b. Travel: Statewide overnight travel may be required.
