Job description

Kforce’s client in Chicago, IL is seeking a Senior Java Spring Boot Developer to support the design, development, and modernization of enterprise applications and APIs. The Developer will work within an Agile team responsible for building scalable, secure, cloud-ready solutions that support critical business capabilities. This role involves developing microservices, implementing API integrations, improving application performance, and supporting ongoing digital transformation initiatives., * Design, develop, and maintain Java Spring Boot microservices and REST APIs

  • Collaborate with product owners, architects, business analysts, and QA teams to deliver high-quality solutions
  • Develop scalable and secure applications following enterprise development standards and best practices
  • Participate in architecture discussions, application design reviews, and code reviews
  • Troubleshoot application issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective solutions
  • Develop automated unit, integration, and performance tests
  • Support CI/CD pipeline implementation and DevOps practices
  • Integrate applications with databases, messaging platforms, and external systems
  • Contribute to cloud migration and modernization efforts where applicable
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily standups, retrospectives, and backlog refinement

Requirements

  • 7+ years of Java experience
  • 5+ years of Spring Boot experience
  • 5+ years of REST API Development experience
  • 5+ years of SQL Databases (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL) experience
  • 4+ years of Microservices Architecture experience
  • 3+ years of Git/Source Control experience
  • 3+ years of CI/CD Tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, etc.) experience
  • 3+ years of Agile/Scrum Methodology experience
  • 2+ years of Docker/Containerization experience
  • 2+ years of Cloud Platforms (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform) experience

Preferred:

  • Experience with Kubernetes/OpenShift
  • Experience with Kafka or enterprise messaging platforms
  • Knowledge of event-driven architecture patterns
  • Experience with API gateways and security frameworks
  • Exposure to distributed systems and cloud-native applications
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
  • Prior experience within financial services or regulated industries

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
