Job description
We are seeking a Junior IBM i System Administrator to join an established infrastructure team supporting critical enterprise systems. This opportunity is ideal for an IT professional looking to transition from Help Desk, Service Desk, Desktop Support, or System Operations into a Systems Administration role.
The successful candidate will work alongside experienced administrators, gain hands-on exposure to enterprise infrastructure, and develop expertise supporting IBM i environments. We are looking for someone who demonstrates curiosity, accountability, and the ability to troubleshoot independently rather than simply following documented procedures.
System Administration & Monitoring
Monitor and maintain system health, performance, and availability
Support daily administrative activities within the IBM i environment
Respond to system alerts and operational issues
Assist with routine maintenance, upgrades, and system changes
Troubleshooting & Support
Investigate and resolve hardware, software, and operating system issues
Analyze incidents and determine appropriate corrective actions
Escalate complex issues when appropriate while maintaining ownership
Document troubleshooting efforts and resolutions
Security & Compliance
Support user access administration and permissions management
Assist with security initiatives and vulnerability remediation activities
Follow established security and operational standards
Infrastructure Operations
Assist with backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes
Support system patching and maintenance activities
Maintain technical documentation and operational procedures
Partner with infrastructure, networking, and security teams on cross-functional initiatives

Requirements
1-3 years of IT experience
Background in Help Desk, Service Desk, Desktop Support, or IT Operations
Looking for a long-term career path in Systems Administration
Naturally curious and enjoys solving technical problems
Demonstrates ownership, accountability, and initiative
Able to think critically and troubleshoot beyond documented procedures
Eager to learn enterprise infrastructure and IBM i administration Familiarity with IBM i, AS/400, iSeries, i5/OS, or OS/400 environments
Exposure to enterprise server environments
