Job description

We are looking to build our database of talented Data Engineers for contract opportunities based in Manchester. Roles of this type could involve designing, developing and maintaining data infrastructure that enables organisations to harness data effectively. You could work across cloud platforms such as Azure and AWS, building data pipelines that process and transform data at scale. This is an opportunity to work with teams that value technical excellence and continuous improvement in how data flows through complex systems., * Designing and developing data pipelines and ETL processes that reliably move data across systems

  • Building data infrastructure using cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS, with technologies like Kubernetes and Docker
  • Implementing CI/CD practices to ensure code quality and deployment reliability
  • Collaborating with data analysts and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into technical solutions
  • Optimising data quality and performance across distributed systems
  • Maintaining and troubleshooting data infrastructure, ensuring systems remain stable and scalable
  • Working with technologies such as SQL, Python and Bash to automate and improve data workflows, Most roles of this type offer the following, dependent on the industry and seniority of the role:

Requirements

  • Strong experience designing and building data pipelines and ETL processes
  • Proficiency with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS or GCP) and containerisation tools (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Solid understanding of distributed systems and data quality principles
  • Experience with SQL and at least one programming language (Python, Java or similar)
  • Experience with CI/CD practices and version control
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Right to work in the United Kingdom

Nice-to-have

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline
  • Google Cloud Data Engineer certification
  • Experience with microservices architecture and APIs
  • Familiarity with SAP systems or enterprise data platforms
  • Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform
  • Experience with additional cloud platforms or data tools such as Power BI
