Job description
This is a chance to explore Data Engineer opportunities within organisations investing in robust data platforms and pipelines. Roles of this type typically sit at the intersection of data architecture, infrastructure and delivery, working with teams to design, build and maintain systems that ingest, process and serve data reliably. You could be involved in defining data quality standards, collaborating with stakeholders to align data infrastructure with business needs, and contributing to the technical decisions that shape how organisations unlock value from their data., * Designing and building scalable data pipelines and infrastructure using modern cloud platforms and tools
- Collaborating with data analysts, stakeholders and engineering teams to understand data requirements and translate them into technical solutions
- Developing and maintaining data quality frameworks, monitoring data integrity and identifying and resolving data anomalies
- Working with technologies such as cloud services (Azure, AWS, GCP), containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes), CI/CD systems and orchestration tools
- Contributing to system design decisions using microservices and distributed systems principles
- Writing clean, maintainable code in languages such as Python, Java or other relevant technologies
- Supporting infrastructure as code practices using tools such as Terraform
- Collaborating across teams to ensure data pipelines align with business and technical requirements
Requirements
- Strong experience building and maintaining data pipelines, with hands-on knowledge of data infrastructure design
- Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, Java, Scala or similar)
- Experience with cloud data platforms (Azure, AWS or GCP) and related data services
- Solid understanding of SQL and relational databases
- Knowledge of containerisation and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Familiarity with CI/CD practices and tools
- Experience with data quality and testing approaches
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
- Right to work in the United Kingdom
Nice-to-have
- Master’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline
- Google Cloud Data Engineer certification
- Experience with distributed systems and microservices architecture
- Exposure to data governance frameworks or data requirements gathering
- Familiarity with additional cloud platforms or advanced data technologies
- Knowledge of APIs and system integration patterns
