Job description

DPC Technology is looking for a Field Technician to cover our Panama City and Florida Panhandle region. This is an entry-level technical role: you’ll bring foundational IT skills and some hands-on experience with cabling or networking, and we’ll build on that with training. Most of the time you’ll be working from home on remote support and tickets, but when we have a project in the region, you’re the person who goes on-site, and you’ll often be handling the physical install on your own with remote guidance and support from the team available whenever you need it.

This is a great fit for someone early in their IT career who has some hands-on experience with cabling, networking hardware, or general tech support, and who is comfortable traveling to a client site and working through a physical install independently, even without another technician there in person. Remote guidance from more senior techs is always available; you just need to be comfortable being the only person on-site.

What You’ll Do

  • Serve as DPC’s on-site technician for the Panama City/Panhandle region, traveling to client sites whenever a project is scheduled in the area
  • Run and terminate structured cabling (Cat5e/6, fiber, coax) through walls, ceilings, attics, and crawlspaces
  • Mount, rack, and physically install hardware, including servers, switches, access points, cameras, displays, and related equipment
  • Set up and configure systems, software, and hardware on-site according to project scope, often working on your own with remote support from the team as needed
  • Test and verify installed systems to confirm functionality, integration, and performance before sign-off
  • Troubleshoot basic deployment issues in the field, escalating to more senior team members when needed
  • Maintain clear documentation, including ticket notes, system configurations, and troubleshooting guides
  • Keep clients and the DPC team informed on progress, delays, or scope changes during the install
  • Work from home between projects, handling tickets, documentation, and remote support while staying available for upcoming on-site work
  • Track time, expenses, and work activities in ConnectWise; complete ConnectWise University training, Strong performers with strong client feedback may progress into a Field Technician II or Project Specialist role.

Success in This Role Looks Like

  • Project client satisfaction score of 98% or higher
  • 90% or more of projects delivered at or under budget
  • A defect rate averaging no more than 1 per 10 projects

Requirements

  • CompTIA A+ certification required (or actively working toward it); Network+ a plus
  • Some hands-on experience with cabling, networking hardware, or general IT/tech support (this can come from a job, internship, personal projects/home lab, or trade training)
  • Comfortable traveling to a client site and working through a physical install on your own, even without another technician present in person; remote support from the team is always available
  • Comfortable with the physical demands of the job: working on ladders, in attics/crawlspaces, and on active job sites; lifting/carrying equipment up to 50 lbs
  • Based in or near the Panama City/Panhandle area, with a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to reach client sites across the region; a company vehicle will be provided for on-site project travel
  • Comfortable working from home between projects, with the self-discipline to stay productive and reachable without daily in-person oversight
  • No degree required
  • Detail-oriented with a habit of documenting work clearly, including notes and photos
  • Strong customer service skills, comfortable representing DPC directly to clients on-site
  • Clear written and verbal communication for documentation and client updates
  • Self-motivated, reliable, and able to manage your own schedule between remote work and on-site travel

Nice to Have

  • CEDIA Cabling & Infrastructure Technician, Snap One PCNA, or similar low-voltage/AV certifications
  • Background in construction, carpentry, electrical, or a similar physical trade
  • Familiarity with Active Directory domains, Windows Server, or general networking concepts
