Job description

The Solutions Designer I is an entry-level designer who supports the development of intralogistics solutions under close supervision. This role focuses on learning TGW’s solution design standards, tools, and processes, while contributing to basic project tasks., * Supports senior team members in collecting and interpreting customer data (e.g. order profiles, throughput, SKU analysis).

  • Assists with collection of machine rates and most calculations for operator rates, as needed.
  • Develops understanding of TGW technologies and standard modules.
  • Learns how to size a solution that defines the number of machines and operators needed based on the defined rates, and ensures a smooth flow within customer warehouse.
  • Learns how to optimize a solution that is competitive and cost-effective and address customer needs.
  • Supports creation of Material Flow Diagrams (MFDs), performs basic system calculations, and assists with the creation of Performance Line Diagrams (PLDs) based on MFDs and layouts created by Applications Engineering.
  • Participates in the creation of the ROM proposal or detailed design proposal, ensuring that main design parameters are clearly specified in the proposal and confirmed by the customer.
  • Prepares and delivers internal presentations about solutions and shadows senior team members in the preparation and delivery of external presentations.
  • Develops understanding of how to define a target cost and ensure that the solution has a competitive cost.
  • Partners with project team to develop effective selling strategies and provide proper coordination and engineering to develop proposals and land orders.
  • Facilitates smooth project handover to post-sales team by ensuring customer requirements, design parameters, and complete solution concept are clearly documented and communicated.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Data collection?, Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience.

Experience: Some internship or full-time experience, preferably in material handling or warehouse environment.

Travel: Up to 10% domestic travel and 1-2 weeks of international travel per year.

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong critical-thinking mindset: analytical, curious, skeptical, and willing to challenge decisions when necessary.
  • Excellent organization skills and ability to meet deadlines with quality work product.
  • Comfort working in multi-disciplinary and intercultural experts’ network.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic knowledge in AutoCAD and SketchUp.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to remain stationary at a desk for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to go to site frequently and move safely around industrial and/or warehouse environment.
  • Ability to lift and carry supplies up to 25 pounds at a time.
  • Ability to operate computers, tablets, phones, and other electronic devices.
  • Ability to communicate with others verbally and in writing, on a frequent basis.
  • Ability to tolerate exposure to job site temperature fluctuations due to seasonal weather in geographic region.
