Job description

We seek a skilled and motivated Field Service Engineer to install, troubleshoot, and repair vibration isolation platforms and magnetic field cancellation systems at customer facilities that support electron microscopes, advanced semiconductor equipment, and other high-tech equipment. This position involves hands-on technical work, light construction work, some rigging, frequent travel to customer sites, and close collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure the highest customer satisfaction. VEC is a small business with offices in Burlingame, CA, and Houston, TX-the opportunity to grow with the company and take on additional responsibilities., Product Installation & Commissioning:

  • Lead or assist in installing specialized active vibration isolation platforms, magnetic field cancellation systems, and acoustic abatement materials, ensuring proper functionality and compliance with technical specifications.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to customers.

Troubleshooting & Diagnostics:

  • Utilize advanced diagnostic tools and software to identify the root cause of technical issues.
  • Escalate complex issues to senior engineers when necessary.
  • Customer Support & Training:
  • Provide on-site and remote technical support to customers, ensuring timely resolution of issues.
  • Deliver training to customer staff on equipment operation, maintenance, and safety.

Documentation & Reporting:

  • Submit timely installation reports and escalate issues to management.

Compliance & Safety:

  • Adhere to company and customer safety protocols during all service activities.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Schematics?, * Technical training or degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field

  • Equivalent experience in high-tech equipment maintenance may be considered

Technical Skills:

  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals
  • Proficiency in diagnostic tools and software used for high-tech equipment

Trade Skills:

  • Conduct light construction work, including installing wire molding, cables, and pneumatic hosing
  • Work often occurs on ladders at heights up to 10 feet
  • Attention to detail and pride in workmanship are of the utmost importance

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to travel frequently (up to 75%) and work flexible hours

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with specific OEM equipment (e.g., Applied Materials, Lam Research, ASML, KLA, Thermo Fisher Scientific, Zeiss).
  • Experience in supporting technical equipment with an electrical or mechanical software/hardware interface, * Are you willing to conduct some manual labor, including installing wire molding, cables, pneumatic hosing, light rigging, and working on ladders? If so, explain your experience with them, if any.
  • Do you enjoy working with your hands and take pride in your ability to do so? Briefly explain a project you’ve completed with hands on work.
  • Will you now or in the future require sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B)?
