Lead Functional Consultant - CRM

Some consultants arrive with the answer. We are looking for someone who arrives with the questions and gets to the answer with the client.

You have a knack for landing in an unfamiliar business and getting your bearings quickly: the jargon, the org chart nobody drew, the process that only works because Martine remembers the exception. You listen properly, you read between the lines, and you have enough empathy to imagine what someone needs before they have found the words for it. Then you make that shared understanding concrete: workshops that go somewhere, requirements people recognise themselves in, processes written clearly enough to be used.

You are also comfortable in the deep end. You take on things you have not done before, you ask the awkward question in the room, and you will push back on a client when their request and their goal are pulling in different directions - kindly, but you do say it.

What you’ll do

• Lead the functional stream of CRM implementations: discovery, analysis, design, and delivery, alongside our technical consultants.
• Immerse yourself in each client’s business (their sector, their vocabulary, their constraints) fast enough to be useful in week one.
• Design, organise, and facilitate workshops: bring the right people in the room, keep the energy up, and leave with decisions rather than open questions.
• Translate what you hear into requirements, user stories, and functional designs validated with the client, not handed to them.
• Map and write up business processes, as-is and to-be, in language the business and the build team both understand.
• Run delivery the modern way: agile ceremonies, sprints, backlog grooming, prioritisation, demos.
• Take the project management lead where it makes sense: on smaller engagements this often sits with the lead consultant.
• Stay close to the client after go-live: adoption, iteration, the next set of problems worth solving.
• Contribute to presales: discovery sessions, scoping, and writing proposals.
• Help sharpen how UPEO works: our templates, our methodology, the way we run workshops.

• 3+ years experience as a functional consultant or business analyst on CRM projects. Salesforce, or any other CRM platform.
• A demonstrable talent for absorbing unfamiliar business contexts quickly, and genuine curiosity about how organisations actually work.
• Real listening skills, and the empathy to anticipate needs that clients have not articulated yet.
• Strong facilitation: you are comfortable in front of a room, including a sceptical one, and you enjoy it.
• Fluent, precise writing of requirements, process documentation, functional specs.
• Fluency in agile delivery: sprints, user stories, iterative scope management.
• Experience leading a workstream or a project, and coordinating people who do not report to you.
• Extraverted, warm, and direct. You build trust quickly and you are not afraid to challenge a client -or yourself.

Nice to have (but not a dealbreaker)

• Salesforce experience. We do not require configuration skills: if you know CRM and you know analysis, we will teach you the Salesforce data model and platform specifics.
• Formal PM or agile credentials (Scrum, PRINCE2, or equivalent).
• Experience in a specific vertical: financial services, HR / social secretariats, non-profit, public sector.
• Curiosity about how AI is changing CRM delivery. We are building it into our practice and would welcome your input.
