Job description

Kforce has a client seeking a remote Senior Java Developer to join a team focused on developing scalable, data-driven applications that support advanced analytics, search capabilities, and visualization solutions. This role will be responsible for designing and building high-performance APIs, processing large volumes of data, and contributing to modern cloud-native solutions. The ideal candidate has strong experience with Java, Spring Boot, Elasticsearch, and data pipeline development in an Agile environment. Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable APIs and backend services using Java and Spring Boot
  • Build and optimize data ingestion, transformation, and orchestration processes
  • Develop and enhance search functionality using Elasticsearch and related technologies
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions
  • Optimize application performance, scalability, reliability, and security
  • Design and maintain data pipelines that support analytics and reporting applications
  • Participate in code reviews, automated testing, and CI/CD processes to ensure high-quality deliverables
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across the application stack
  • Contribute to architectural decisions and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 5+ years of professional software development experience
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience with Java (11+) and Spring Boot 3+
  • Experience developing RESTful APIs and microservices
  • Strong experience with relational databases such as SQL Server or MySQL
  • Experience with NoSQL technologies including MongoDB and Elasticsearch
  • Experience designing and implementing ETL/data processing pipelines handling large datasets
  • Experience with automated testing tools and frameworks such as JUnit, Mockito, Postman, or SOAP UI
  • Proficiency with Git and build tools such as Gradle or Maven
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
  • Strong Linux administration and troubleshooting experience
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Experience working in Agile development environments

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
  • Knowledge of microservices architecture and distributed systems
  • Exposure to machine learning, artificial intelligence, or predictive analytics solutions
  • Experience supporting analytics, visualization, or data-intensive applications
  • Background in public sector, public safety, law enforcement, or related industries

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
