Job description
The System Analyst 6 role supports the REDCap application hosted on AWS for the State of Michigan. This position involves maintaining, troubleshooting, upgrading, and integrating the REDCap platform to ensure secure, reliable, and highly available services. The role requires collaboration with multiple stakeholders and technical teams, focusing on PHP Microservices development, MySQL database management, cloud infrastructure, and application support within a hybrid work environment. Responsibilities:
- Support REDCap application user/project management, reports, and surveys on AWS.
- Coordinate and implement REDCap software updates, patches, and version upgrades with Vanderbilt University.
- Install, configure, and support REDCap External Modules using PHP on Linux/AWS environments.
- Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot REDCap API integrations and automate data flows.
- Serve as the primary technical contact for REDCap-related issues.
- Implement and maintain OIDC integration, Active Directory/LDAP, and SSL/TLS certificates.
- Prepare scripts for data loading to REDCap databases using import tools or APIs.
- Coordinate with AWS infrastructure teams on servers, storage, networking, security, backups, and monitoring.
- Provide day-to-day operational support including troubleshooting, documentation, and training.
- Monitor application performance and proactively resolve issues.
- Support disaster recovery, backup validation, and system recovery activities.
- Develop automation scripts for reporting and data validation using PHP and SQL.
- Maintain MySQL databases including queries and validation.
- Maintain technical documentation and standard operating procedures.
- Coordinate issue resolution with vendors, developers, DBAs, security teams, and users.
- Participate in change management, release management, and production support.
- Ensure compliance with State security standards, HIPAA, data privacy, and audit logging.
- Create and maintain Azure DevOps work items and monitor project progress.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Five or more years of experience in PHP Microservices development and troubleshooting.
- Five or more years of MySQL database management experience.
- Five or more years of PHP configuration and troubleshooting experience.
- Five or more years of Python scripting for data loading and querying.
- Five or more years designing, developing, and troubleshooting RESTful APIs.
- Five or more years supporting enterprise web applications hosted on AWS.
- Experience with AWS Cloud services such as EC2, S3, VPC, and security groups.
- Experience with Apache or Nginx web servers.
- Knowledge of OIDC/SAML integration and SSL/TLS certificate management.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work onsite in Lansing, Michigan area (within 75 miles).
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Experience supporting REDCap in public health, healthcare, higher education, or research environments.
- Experience with REDCap API integration and External Modules implementation.
- Experience with Twilio/SMS survey gateway.
- Experience with Active Directory, LDAP, or Single Sign-On (SSO).
- Experience using ServiceNow or other enterprise ticketing systems.
- Experience with DevOps or similar tools.
- Experience with SSIS/SQL Server Agent.
- AWS Cloud Practitioner, SysOps Administrator, or Solutions Architect certification.
- Knowledge of HIPAA, security, and data privacy best practices.

- Hybrid work schedule with mandatory onsite days on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
- Candidates must reside within 75 miles of Lansing, Michigan at time of submission.

Scheduling:
- Full-time position, 40 hours per week.
- Hybrid schedule: 2 days onsite (Wednesdays and Thursdays), remainder remote.
- Assignment duration projected for 1 year, starting 10/12/2026 through 09/30/2027.
