Power BI Report Developer

We are looking for an experienced Power BI Report Developer to develop and support complex enterprise reporting and analytics solutions. Candidates should have strong hands-on Power BI development experience, excellent technical and analytical skills, and the ability to create polished, intuitive, and user-friendly reports. This role requires someone who can independently lead report development efforts, working directly with stakeholders to understand business needs, refine requirements, recommend solutions, and guide projects through development, testing, and implementation.

Required Skills

Power BI Development

• Excellent hands-on experience with Power BI Desktop developing complex, interactive reports and dashboards
• Strong DAX and Power Query / M skills
• Strong understanding of data modeling, relationships, and dimensional modeling concepts
• Experience with both Import and DirectQuery modes and understanding when each is appropriate
• Ability to troubleshoot and optimize DAX, queries, data models, and report performance
• Experience with interactive features such as drill-through, bookmarks, tooltips, conditional formatting, and navigation
• Ability to troubleshoot, modify, and enhance existing Power BI solutions

Report Design & User Experience

• Demonstrated ability to create professional, aesthetically pleasing, and user-friendly reports
• Strong understanding of data visualization, layout, navigation, and usability
• Ability to organize complex information into intuitive reporting solutions and incorporate creative design elements where appropriate

Power BI Service

• Familiarity with Power BI workspaces, semantic models, deployment pipelines, data flows, and gateways
• Understanding of data connections, scheduled refreshes, and Row-Level Security (RLS)
• Ability to troubleshoot refresh, connectivity, and report-related issues

SQL & Data

• Strong SQL development and troubleshooting skills, including complex queries, joins, aggregations, conditional logic, and transformations
• Comfortable working across multiple data sources and investigating data to determine appropriate sources and business logic
• Experience validating and reconciling data to ensure reporting accuracy

Reporting & Stakeholder Skills

• Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to translate complex business needs into effective reporting solutions
• Comfortable working with incomplete or evolving requirements and limited documentation
• Able to work directly with stakeholders to define requirements, recommend solutions, and guide development and testing
• Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Able to independently take ownership of complex assignments from requirements through implementation and production support

Healthcare Experience

Health insurance reporting experience particularly:

• Claims, member, and enrollment/eligibility data
• Employer group reporting
• Healthcare cost and utilization reporting
• Familiarity with metrics such as PMPM and per-1,000 utilization rates
