Job description

Provide onsite, hands-on support for time-critical incidents affecting engineering, test, lab, and office operations.

  • Triage incidents, determine business impact and urgency, restore service where possible, and escalate promptly to the correct resolver team.

  • Troubleshoot Windows clients, engineering workstations, hardware, software, peripherals, access, connectivity, and local infrastructure dependencies.

  • Support test and lab computers, HIL rigs, specialized engineering devices, and associated network connections.

  • Install, configure, replace, and maintain approved client hardware, software, applications, communication tools, and peripherals.

  • Support planned deployments, client migrations, upgrades, patching, vulnerability remediation, and equipment refresh activities.

  • Maintain accurate incident, request, asset, and work-log information in the designated service-management tools.

  • Provide timely status updates to affected users, stakeholders, service desks, and technical teams during critical incidents.

  • Coordinate with local and global infrastructure teams and remain engaged until service is restored or ownership is formally transferred.

  • Document troubleshooting steps, known fixes, and recurring problems; recommend practical improvements that reduce downtime.

Requirements

Experience Level: 2 to 5 years of hands-on deskside, field, or onsite IT support experience in a business-critical environment.

Core Responsibilities: Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, user access, and connectivity issues for Windows workstations, peripherals, and network-connected lab equipment; assist with client migrations, equipment refresh, patching, and deployments.

Technical & Domain Focus: Strong proficiency in Windows clients, LAN connectivity, endpoint security, and ITSM tools (incident, request, change, and asset management). Prior experience supporting engineering, lab, test, or manufacturing environments (specifically HIL rigs or specialized test devices) is strongly preferred.

Key Soft Skills: Service-minded and calm under pressure in high-impact situations, clear English communication, strong ownership from triage through resolution/handoff, and disciplined ticket/solution documentation., 2-5 years of demonstrated experience providing onsite deskside or field IT support in a business-critical environment.

  • Strong troubleshooting capability across Windows clients, PCs, laptops, peripherals, software, user access, and network connectivity.

  • Experience supporting engineering, manufacturing, test, or laboratory environments is strongly preferred.

  • Working knowledge of LAN connectivity, endpoint security, patching, software deployment, and hardware lifecycle activities.

  • Experience using IT service-management tools and working within incident, request, change, and problem-management processes.

  • Ability to assess urgency, manage competing priorities, and remain effective during high-impact incidents.

  • Clear written and verbal communication in English, with disciplined documentation and stakeholder updates.

  • Ability to work onsite in Greensboro and perform hands-on installation, connection, replacement, and troubleshooting of IT equipment.

  • Relevant technical education or equivalent practical experience.
