Job description
We are looking for an internal IT & Business Systems Administrator to act as their counterpart, reporting directly to the IT Director. In this role, you will own day-to-day user support, business systems administration, Microsoft 365 policy and compliance, endpoint security, vendor governance and incident response. This is an exciting opportunity to own problems end-to-end, manage key relationships and get hands-on with tools such as Microsoft Purview, Defender and Intune, while our MSP takes on the heavy infrastructure work., This role requires a methodical professional to oversee our internal systems, keep our Microsoft 365 environment secure and compliant, and act as the bridge between our business and our MSP.
- First-Line Support: Triage and resolve helpdesk tickets via Desk365, manage onboarding/offboarding and serve as the on-site point of contact for hardware and connectivity issues.
- Systems Administration: Administer Microsoft 365 (users, mailboxes, licensing and groups), SharePoint and ClickUp, and maintain email signatures via CodeTwo.
- Microsoft 365 Policy Management: Configure and manage Microsoft 365 policies across security, compliance, sharing and retention, and resolve any policy-related issues as they arise.
- Security & Compliance: Investigate and resolve issues within Microsoft Purview and Microsoft Defender, escalating to our MSP where SIEM/SOC or infrastructure-level action is required.
- Endpoint Security & Management: Take ownership of endpoint security and device patching across the business using Microsoft Intune, ESET and Action1.
- Automation: Build, maintain and debug Power Automate workflows for ticketing, approvals and notifications.
- Vendor Governance: Act as the named internal contact for our MSP, review their monthly service reports, track change requests, approve or reject out-of-scope charges and flag any scope creep.
- Incident Ownership: Serve as the named owner for IT and security incidents, liaising between our MSP, affected staff and the IT Director through to resolution, maintaining the incident response runbook and overseeing backup restoration testing.
Requirements
- Education: BSc or equivalent degree/diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years’ hands-on experience in an IT support and business systems administration role.
- Microsoft 365 Certified: Fundamentals (MS-900) is required, or must be completed within your probation period.
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900) is required to ensure you can critically read vendor reports and understand our Azure environment.
Essential (The Daily Drivers)
- Experience administering Microsoft 365 (mailboxes, licensing and groups) in a business environment.
- Experience with helpdesk ticketing systems and delivering first-line IT support.
- Experience with endpoint management and security tools (e.g. Microsoft Intune, ESET or Action1).
- Familiarity with SharePoint administration.
- Clear, methodical written communication skills for vendor liaison and incident logging.
- Comfortable owning a problem end-to-end and coordinating third parties rather than executing all technical work personally.
Desirable (The “Uneek” Edge)
- Familiarity with configuring Microsoft 365 policies and working with Microsoft Purview and Microsoft Defender.
- Prior experience managing or liaising with an outsourced IT provider or MSP.
- Experience with ClickUp administration.
- Experience building or maintaining Power Automate workflows.
- Experience working within a B2B, distribution or manufacturing environment.
- CompTIA Security+ or ITIL 4 Foundation certification., * IT Support: 3 years (required)
- Business Systems Administration: 3 years (required)

Pay: From £38,000.00 per year
