Job description
- Support the review and development of Sports Services, identifying alternative methods of delivery and opportunities to improve efficiency and service quality.
- Coordinate procurement requirements across Sports Services, including the preparation of specifications and tender documentation, and assist with contract monitoring.
- Implement and maintain integrated business support services, maximising income opportunities and maintaining accurate information across relevant databases.
- Control and maintain Leisure Management software, ensuring it is used effectively and efficiently in line with Council procedures.
- Develop and integrate the Vitality Household Programme, supporting participation and income generation through effective use of Leisure Management software.
- Liaise with Council units and external providers to maximise the potential of ICT for income generation, financial monitoring, and customer service.
- Review and harmonise policies, procedures, working practices, and quality standards across the Sports Services Unit.
- Lead reviews of working practices to support compliance with external quality validation schemes and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, including shared staffing arrangements, new ways of working, and improved use of resources.
- Develop and implement coordinated business improvement action plans across the Unit.
- Ensure compliance with data protection requirements, maintaining robust information management procedures and supporting staff training.
- Promote high standards of customer care, professional conduct, and compliance with Council policies and procedures.
- Develop effective relationships with partners and stakeholders to support innovation, community planning, and improved service delivery.
- Promote the service effectively, communicating in a way that enhances the public image and reputation of the Council.
- Adapt to changing organisational needs and undertake additional duties as required.
Requirements
- A degree or other Level 6 qualification.
- A minimum of three years’ relevant experience managing a business or administrative function.
A minimum of three years’ relevant experience in:
- Developing operational business plans.
- Developing ICT to support service delivery and income generation.
- Implementing and monitoring financial procedures.
- Implementing and maintaining external quality models, such as Customer Excellence.
- Applicants without the required Level 6 qualification must demonstrate a minimum of five years’ relevant experience in the areas outlined above.
- A full, current UK driving licence and access to a car, or access to a suitable means of transport to carry out the duties of the post. This requirement is subject to the applicable provisions for applicants with a disability.
Benefits & conditions
- Full time, Temporary.
- 37 hours per week.
- 4 days in the office, 1 day working from home where operationally feasible.
