Job description

This is an opportunity for an engineer who wants to take the next step beyond standard 2nd Line support. You’ll work across a varied client base and diverse IT environments, dealing with escalated technical issues, supporting users and systems, and getting involved with infrastructure improvements and technical projects.

You’ll be exposed to a broad range of technologies across Microsoft 365, Azure, Windows Server, Active Directory, networking, cloud services and security, giving you the opportunity to continuously expand your technical knowledge. Rather than being limited to repetitive support tickets, you’ll be encouraged to investigate problems properly, take ownership and develop your ability to handle more complex technical challenges.

The biggest attraction of this role is the career development on offer. The business has a clear technical pathway for engineers who want to progress, with the opportunity to move from 2nd Line into 3rd Line Engineering and ultimately Infrastructure Engineering. As your technical capability grows, you’ll gradually take on more advanced escalations, infrastructure responsibilities and project work.

You’ll also have the opportunity to work alongside experienced senior engineers, giving you access to valuable technical knowledge and support as you progress. If you’re ambitious, enjoy solving technical problems and want a company that will genuinely invest in your development, this could be an excellent platform for your next career move., * Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365, Azure, Active Directory and modern IT technologies

  • Involvement in infrastructure upgrades and technical projects
  • Clear progression pathway from 2nd Line ? 3rd Line ? Infrastructure Engineer
  • Increasing technical responsibility as you develop
  • Work alongside experienced 3rd Line and Infrastructure Engineers
  • Ongoing technical training and development
  • Supportive environment focused on long-term career growth
  • Opportunity to build a strong technical career within the MSP sector

If you’re a 2nd Line IT Engineer who is ready to take the next step and wants more than just another support position, this is an opportunity to build your career within a growing MSP with a genuine technical progression pathway.

With exposure to a broad range of technologies, experienced engineers around you and a clear route into 3rd Line and Infrastructure Engineering, you’ll have everything you need to continue developing and take on increasingly senior technical responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Strong commercial experience in a 2nd Line IT Support / IT Engineer position
  • Previous MSP experience is highly desirable
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Windows environments
  • Experience with Azure and cloud technologies
  • Strong understanding of Active Directory
  • Good networking knowledge including DNS, DHCP, VPNs and firewalls
  • Experience handling escalated technical issues
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
  • Comfortable supporting multiple clients and technical environments
  • Excellent communication and customer-facing skills
  • Genuine ambition to progress towards 3rd Line and Infrastructure Engineering
