Systems Administrator

Tolar Systems is seeking a detail-oriented Systems Administrator to maintain, monitor, and improve the reliability and security of its IT infrastructure. This role involves administering servers, managing user access, troubleshooting system issues, and supporting the technology services that keep business operations running efficiently., * Install, configure, maintain, and monitor servers, operating systems, and business applications.

• Administer user accounts, access permissions, and authentication policies.
• Monitor system performance, availability, storage, and resource utilization.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, server, and network-related issues.
• Apply system updates, security patches, and configuration changes.
• Maintain backup procedures and assist with disaster recovery planning.
• Implement security controls and follow IT policies and industry best practices.
• Document system configurations, maintenance activities, and troubleshooting procedures.
• Coordinate with IT support, network teams, and external vendors to resolve technical issues.
• Identify opportunities to automate routine tasks and improve infrastructure performance.

The ideal candidate has a strong technical foundation, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining dependable IT services., * Experience in systems administration, IT infrastructure, or a related technical role.

• Knowledge of Windows Server or Linux operating systems.
• Understanding of networking fundamentals, including DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, and VPNs.
• Familiarity with user and permission management, system monitoring, and backup solutions.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, patch management, and access controls.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Ability to communicate technical information clearly and work collaboratively.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Microsoft 365, Active Directory, or Microsoft Entra ID.
• Familiarity with virtualization platforms such as VMware or Hyper-V.
• Knowledge of cloud infrastructure and automated system administration.
• Experience with scripting tools such as PowerShell or Bash.
• Relevant certifications, such as CompTIA Server+, Microsoft certifications, or Linux certifications.
