Job description

Database Administrator (DBA) - Up to £550 per day Outside IR35 - Edinburgh (Remote)

One of Lorien’s leading Public Sector clients is looking for a Database Administrator (DBA) to join their team on an initial 12 month contract with a possible 12 month extension.

PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A REMOTE POSITION WITH OCCASIONAL ON-SITE ATTENDANCE AS REQUIRED IN EDINBURGH

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administering and supporting SQL Server environments across development, test and production
  • Managing and optimising Azure Cosmos DB workloads for performance and scalability
  • Identifying and resolving database performance issues impacting Legacy systems
  • Improving query performance, indexing strategies and reducing latency
  • Implementing monitoring, alerting and capacity planning improvements
  • Ensuring data security, access control and compliance with GDPR standards
  • Supporting modernisation of data platforms and ongoing service improvements

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Strong SQL Server DBA experience within live production environments
  • Proven expertise in performance tuning and resolving database bottlenecks
  • Hands-on experience with Azure Cosmos DB (including indexing and partitioning)
  • Understanding of HA/DR principles and database resilience
  • Experience working in collaborative engineering or delivery teams
  • Ideally exposure to public sector or highly regulated environments
