CEO and Co-founder of planqc

Alexander Glätzle is CEO and co-founder of planqc, the company building Germany’s first quantum computer based on neutral atoms. A quantum physicist turned entrepreneur, he is on a mission to turn quantum technology from a scientific breakthrough into a powerful industrial tool. After leading research on ultracold atoms and quantum annealing at the University of Oxford and the Centre for Quantum Technologies in Singapore, Glätzle moved into industry to shape strategies for quantum computing and blockchain at a leading global consultancy. In 2018, he took the leap to build the future himself. Today, he is driving Europe’s quantum ambition with planqc. Backed by €50 million in funding, the company is developing a 1,000-qubit quantum computer for the Leibniz Supercomputing Centre and building quantum computing capabilities for research and industry. His vision is bold and clear: quantum computers made in Europe, solving real-world problems worth billions.
