We are looking for a Hardware Support Engineer to ensure the smooth operation, configuration, and maintenance of field devices such as smart meters and communication modules used in smart energy systems. In this technical role, you will analyze device performance, manage firmware and configuration updates, support large-scale rollouts, and act as a key interface between customers, R&D, and internal support teams. Main Responsibilities

Analyze malfunctioning smart meters and determine root causes (configuration, firmware, or system-level issues).

Implement corrective measures such as firmware updates, configuration adjustments, or hardware replacements.

Perform remote configuration and firmware updates during customer rollouts.

Identify and drive improvements across the product lifecycle and technical processes.

Conduct technical training sessions for customers and internal teams.

Manage after-sales activities, including ticket handling, coordination with repair service providers, and documentation in CRM/SAP.

Requirements
- Technical education in electrical engineering, electronics, or equivalent (HF/FH or similar).
- Several years of experience commissioning and supporting field devices in energy, IoT, or communication systems.
- Solid understanding of communication technologies (LTE, GPRS, PLC, IPv4/v6) and relevant protocols (DLMS, SML, COSEM).
- Experience with support tools such as ServiceNow, SAP, test environments, or remote device management platforms.
- Structured and methodical approach to troubleshooting and documentation.
- Fluent in German and English (spoken and written); French is an advantage.
- Solution-driven mindset and passion for smart energy technologies.
