Job description
You'll be joining the Architecture team in either Malaga OR Madrid, a highly diverse and collaborative group working across enterprise IT, infrastructure, databases, AI, security, and DevOps. This is a unique opportunity to take ownership of systems architecture projects, partner with Principal Engineers, and be the go-to voice for infrastructure strategy across the organisation. ? Why this role matters
- This organisation is complex, fast-moving, and ambitious. They need someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and can bring order, clarity, and structure.
- You'll be the subject matter expert for systems design, helping deliver critical projects and supporting the teams that keep the lights on.
- On-prem expertise is essential right now. Cloud is on the horizon, this is your chance to influence that journey.
? What you'll do
- Act as the SME for Systems Architecture, designing, documenting, and evolving enterprise-grade solutions.
- Lead PoCs and R&D on emerging tech to support business initiatives and improve efficiency.
- Work hands-on with Linux, virtualisation, orchestration, and networking to design resilient infrastructure.
- Collaborate with Principal Engineers to tackle operational challenges, improve performance, and propose executable strategies.
- Be a trusted advisor across IT and business stakeholders-articulating complex solutions clearly at every level.
- Contribute to the Architecture Centre of Excellence, shaping technical strategy and championing best practice.
Requirements
- Strong Linux systems expertise (Windows knowledge a bonus).
- Hands-on experience with on-prem data centres, virtualisation, and orchestration.
- Understanding of containers, networking, and security concepts.
- Familiarity with OpenStack, Kubernetes, IaC (Terraform, Ansible), and observability tools.
- Ability to manage complexity with incomplete information and still deliver clear, actionable designs.
- Stakeholder management skills: you can switch context quickly and build trusted relationships across a multicultural organisation.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with Ansible, automation, and scripting (Python, Bash, Go, PowerShell).
- Familiarity with SDS (Ceph), IAM solutions, and DevOps tooling.
- Cloud concepts, especially AWS / Azure / GCP, for future adoption.
? What you'll bring
- A mix of strategic thinking and hands-on expertise, you're not just drawing boxes on slides, you know how systems actually work.
- Curiosity and adaptability: you thrive in complex, evolving environments.
- Strong communication and influence skills: from engineers to executives, you can articulate solutions that make sense.
- A collaborative, multicultural mindset: our team spans Europe and beyond, and we value diverse voices and perspectives.
