Job description
We have an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated and skilled Infrastructure Engineer to join us in Aberdeen on contract basis (minimum of 3 months). You'll work as part of a cross-functional team responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting IT infrastructure while driving continuous improvement.
Key Outcomes
Responsibilities include managing core IT systems-servers, networking, storage, backups, telephony, and client hardware-while ensuring security compliance through patching, scanning, inventory control, and system hardening. The role involves maintaining accurate documentation, operating within established procedures, providing technical support, and collaborating across teams to plan, deliver, and track work effectively, ensuring high-quality outcomes.
What you'll do
- Develop, manage, and support IT infrastructure and operations-including servers, networks, and client systems-aligned with security, compliance, and business needs.
- Ensure infrastructure and security standards are met to protect data, software, and equipment.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimise system performance and reliability.
- Maintain accurate documentation, inventories, and licensing records.
- Deliver hands-on engineering support for projects, maintenance, and incident resolution.
- Support business continuity and contribute to disaster recovery planning.
- Collaborate across IT teams, business units, and external partners to resolve issues and manage systems effectively.
- Provide proactive technical support and clear communication to ensure excellent customer service.
- Participate in planning and delivery of IT projects within scope, budget, and timelines.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and evaluate new tools to meet evolving business needs.
Requirements
- Proven IT experience in a similar environment, with working knowledge of:
- Microsoft Entra
- Windows Server & Desktop
- Microsoft 365 Security & Compliance
- Storage platforms
- Microsoft Office
- Systems management & monitoring tools
- Degree in IT or equivalent professional experience
- Strong coordination and planning skills, with clear communication
- Effective change management capabilities
- Excellent interpersonal skills across technical and non-technical teams
- Organised and analytical - prioritises tasks, meets deadlines, manages multiple demands, and applies a risk-based approach to problem solving
- Proactive and collaborative - takes ownership, works independently or in teams, shows initiative, and translates user issues into clear technical requirements with attention to detail
- Ability to work with users to understand issues and translate them to requirements
