Job description
The Data team at Monese is focused on making sure good quality data is available for all stakeholders to drive our BI, building a highly robust and scalable data platform.
As Head of Data, you will lead a team of Data Engineers and Data Scientists to leverage our data at scale. Working closely with the BI and Cloud Engineering teams, you will be responsible for designing and running data pipelines and ML models that power advanced analytics and predictive work.
This is a hands-on role. The ideal candidate will have strong infrastructure and data architecture skills as well as experience with data analysis and data modelling.
What you will be doing
- Lead the strategy, architecture and execution of the company's data platform, combining Monese and Pockit environments, and ensuring scalability and cost efficiency.
- Manage and mentor a cross-functional team of Data Engineers and Data Scientists.
- Establish best practices for data modeling, orchestration, CI/CD, and MLOps pipelines.
- Drive cloud cost optimizations and the adoption of open table formats (Apache Iceberg).
- Define and implement data governance, data quality, and security frameworks aligned with regulatory standards (GDPR, ISO27001).
Requirements
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proven track record designing data lakehouse or data warehouse architectures.
- Hands-on experience with:
- Data storage - e.g. Snowflake, Redshift, Iceberg, or equivalents.
- Cloud services - Preferably on AWS: S3, Glue, Athena.
- Data orchestration - e.g. Apache Airflow, Step Functions, or similar.
- Data processing - e.g. dbt, Kafka, Flink, or equivalent frameworks.

Deep understanding of data modeling architectures (Dimensional, Data Vault, Medallion).
