Job description

We are seeking a proactive and technically skilled IT Assistant to join our dedicated team and support the smooth running of IT services across the school. This is a 6-month temporary position to provide cover during staff leave.

The successful candidate will play an important role in maintaining our IT systems, providing day-to-day technical support to staff and students, and helping ensure that teaching and learning are fully supported by reliable technology., * Provide first-line technical support for hardware, software, and network issues.

  • Assist in maintaining school IT systems, including user accounts, printers, and classroom equipment.
  • Support teachers and administrative staff with technical queries and setup of devices.
  • Help manage and update inventory of IT equipment.
  • Ensure safe and responsible use of IT resources in line with school policies.
  • Escalate complex technical issues to the IT Manager or external support providers as required.
  • Ensure the smooth running of communications, Internet, WiFi and telephony services

Requirements

Do you have experience in IT support?, * Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.

  • Strong IT skills with experience supporting Windows.
  • Good understanding of basic networking, troubleshooting, and device management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a helpful and patient manner.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively in a busy environment.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.

Desirable Criteria

  • Ability to quickly troubleshoot common IT issues
  • Willingness to learn and support a range of systems and devices
  • Previous experience working in a school, college, or similar educational environment.
  • Experience with School management systems such as Engage, iSams etc.
  • Experience working with Meraki Networking
  • Familiarity with safeguarding and data protection (GDPR) principles.
  • Knowledge of classroom technology such as interactive whiteboards, projectors, and tablets.
  • Experience with Google Workspace for Education.
  • Relevant IT qualifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified Fundamentals).
  • An interest in supporting technology-based learning initiatives.
