Job description

The Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for supporting and maintaining Responsiv Assist and Responsiv Cloud services, including support for IBM middleware, databases, and open-source software across Linux and Windows systems. In practice, this involves resolving support tickets, performing software installations and upgrades, proactive monitoring and management of cloud and customer platforms, and delivering infrastructure improvement projects. You will be contributing to technical planning, documentation, and knowledge sharing, while ensuring work is completed to agreed deadlines, quality standards, and budgets., The Infrastructure Engineer will work under the direction of the Head of Service Engineering focusing on closing support tickets, software installation, proactive monitoring and management of customer and cloud platforms, and delivery of cloud improvement projects. Engineers are expected to be known for their detailed knowledge of specific products while being a safe pair of hands for delivering general technical support and triage activity. ??, ?This role sits within our Service Engineering team, it is an internal and customer-facing role that will require you to:?

  • Resolve support tickets and provide technical triage and resolution across supported platforms.
  • Perform software installations, upgrades, and patching for cloud and customer systems.
  • Monitor cloud and on-premises platforms, identifying issues proactively and mitigating risks.
  • Support IBM Middleware, databases, and open-source software across Linux and Windows systems.
  • Contribute to technical planning, runbooks, and documentation to ensure consistent processes.
  • Work with developers to support software development pipelines where necessary.
  • Participate in incident and problem resolution, coordinating with internal teams, consultants, partners, and customers.
  • Use downtime effectively to practice installations, test upgrades, and explore new technologies.
  • Maintain internal information management systems and follow company standards, including ISO 27001.
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to knowledge sharing across the team.

Technical research to identify new ideas and ways of working, as well as presentations to team and extended company peers is expected. You should be able to deliver to hard deadlines whilst maintaining quality of work. Manage your own time under direction from the Head of Service Engineering.

?Engineers are expected to understand the technology being used, how to install and troubleshoot the installation, and to upgrade and patch products. This includes following good practice when operating on production systems and completing documentation in the form of ticket activity records and troubleshooting guides for others to use to solve similar problems.

?As an Engineer you will be expected to maintain your knowledge about new versions of software, new products, and to use quiet time to practice installing software and testing installations. Monitoring cloud and other installations, tracing, and monitoring logfiles and other tooling to determine imminent problems and their resolution.

?Engineers are not expected to be programmers or to have a developer background, however they are expected to be able to write scripts that are robust. You will work with developers supporting their software development pipelines.

Requirements
