Job description
We're looking for a PHP Web Developer to join our in-house development team, working on the platforms and applications that power our organisation. You'll be helping to build new features, improve performance, support live systems and ensure our internal and external users have a smooth experience.
This role is remote first with a collaborative team who communicate well and support each other, most of the existing team work remotely across the UK.
What you'll be doing
- Developing and maintaining our internal platforms APIs and websites
- Building new functionality and improving existing features
- Supporting live operational systems and resolving issues
- Working within project sprints alongside the lead developer and wider IT team
- Writing clean, maintainable code and contributing to documentation
Requirements
Do you have experience in PHP?, * PHP (ideally PHP 8+)
- Laravel framework experience (Laravel 8+)
- MySQL
- HTML & CSS
- JavaScript
- Git / Source Control
- Understanding of Docker or containerisation concepts
- Comfortable working in an Agile environment
It's a bonus if you've worked with:
- Tailwind CSS or Bootstrap
- Livewire / Alpine.js / Vue.js / React
- REST APIs or third-party integrations
- AWS / GCP cloud hosting
- CI/CD pipelines and automated testing
- Tools like Postman, Jira, GitHub/Bitbucket, etc.
- CMS building experience with software like FilamentPHP, Laravel Nova or WordPress

- Strong problem-solving ability and curiosity about why things work the way they do
- Able to work independently, while keeping the team up to date and communicating clearly
- Comfortable collaborating with non-technical colleagues and explaining ideas simply
- To be keen to learn and passionate about development, systems and technology, * Do you have commercial experience with PHP?
- Do you have experience working with, MVC frameworks (e.g. Laravel, Symfony, CodeIgniter)?
