Job description

  • Assist in creating 2D and 3D CAD drawings for components and fabrications.
  • Work closely with experienced engineers to convert concepts into detailed manufacturing drawings.
  • Support with technical documentation including bills of materials (BOMs) and design updates.
  • Use off-line programming software to program machinery throughout the facility.
  • Help resolve design or production issues by liaising with workshop staff.
  • Take measurements and assist in developing prototypes or modifications.
  • Learn to use industry-standard software and tools (e.g. SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
  • Gain an understanding of materials, tolerances, and fabrication processes including laser cutting, forming, and welding.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Numeracy?, We're looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Design Engineer to join our engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity for a college leaver (or someone looking for a career change) to start a hands-on career in mechanical design and manufacturing., Essential:

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
  • Formal qualification in a related subject within Design, Engineering or Manufacturing.
  • A genuine interest in engineering, design, or manufacturing.
  • Good numeracy and problem-solving.
  • Willingness to learn CAD software and technical drawing standards.
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach.
  • Strong active listening skill and the ability to ask questions.
  • Teamworking is essential.
  • Reliability, enthusiasm, and a proactive attitude.
  • Must have own transport for commute. (No bus routes etc).

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Familiarity with any CAD software (e.g. from school, college, or personal projects).
  • Hands-on experience with practical or workshop tasks.
  • Awareness of manufacturing or metalworking processes.
