Job description

Lochinver House is a leading independent co-educational school for pupils aged 3-13, renowned for its personalised approach to education and commitment to nurturing every child's unique potential. From Forest School explorations to specialist subject teaching, our pupils benefit from an education designed to inspire curiosity, creativity and resilience.

As part of the Haberdashers' Elstree Schools family, Lochinver House is now entering an exciting period of growth, strengthened by our strategic partnership and our preferential pathway to Habs and other leading senior schools. We are proud to offer an exceptional working environment, where staff expertise and innovation play a central role in supporting pupils' learning.

We are seeking an IT Technician to join our friendly and dedicated team. This role is instrumental in ensuring seamless technological support across our school, enabling staff and pupils to make the very best use of our digital tools and learning environments.

About the Role

As an IT Technician, you will:

  • Staff the Service Desk on a rota basis, delivering helpful, timely and customer-focused support to users across both schools.
  • Manage and prioritise support tickets effectively, ensuring resolutions are delivered within agreed SLAs and maintaining strong customer satisfaction.
  • Analyse ticket data to identify trends, reduce ticket volume and improve service efficiency.
  • Provide technical troubleshooting for hardware, software and connectivity issues-whether in person, via remote access, or through clear written guidance.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to identify root causes and implement long-term solutions.
  • Create and maintain high-quality documentation to support future issue resolution.
  • Support internal and external examinations, including oral, written and music assessments.
  • Facilitate equipment loans to staff and pupils.
  • Provide technical support for key school events such as open evenings, assemblies, concerts, productions and external speaker visits.
  • Update digital signage across the schools as required.
  • Provide audio and video recording, editing and post-production services to support teaching and whole-school activities.
  • Manage and support Audio-Visual systems and equipment overseen by the IT Services department.
  • Keep up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies and best practice in IT service management.
  • Recommend upgrades or new technologies that align with the school's aims and budget.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to remain current in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.

About You

You will be someone who thrives in a busy, varied environment and enjoys solving problems for others. You will bring strong technical understanding, excellent communication skills, and a genuine commitment to supporting teaching and learning through high-quality IT services. You will also be proactive, organised, and eager to contribute to continuous improvement across the department.

We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive sufficient applications for the role. Therefore, if you are interested, please submit your application as early as possible.

Lochinver House School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The successful candidate will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service enhanced check. The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the School is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are "spent" unless they are "protected" under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.
