Job description

Trafford IT and Digital Services are integral to support the Council's Corporate and NHS Locality Plans by driving digital transformation across the Council and NHS Greater Manchester Integrated Care services. As an IT Officer within the IT Operational function, part of the IT & Digital Service, you will be the first point of contact for users, providing essential front-line support to ensure technology runs smoothly and efficiently.

You will be responsible for triaging, diagnosing, and resolving a wide range of technical issues. Following the ITIL framework, you'll follow defined procedures for incident management, ensuring service requests and incidents are accurately logged, updated, and resolved within agreed service levels. Where required, you will escalate issues and collaborate with technical teams to ensure timely resolution and minimal disruption to services.

Your work will involve providing support for end users over the phone, via the IT hub system and during face-to-face bookings, covering hardware, software, and network-related issues. You'll work across a variety of technologies including Microsoft 365, Windows operating systems, VPN, and remote desktop services. A key part of your role will be championing a customer-centric culture throughout the department, ensuring all interactions with customers are delivered to a high standard.

Requirements

You'll have a keen interest and understanding of technology, gained through work or personal experience, and a strong desire to develop your skills further. You'll have a good understanding of current operating systems and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint). You'll demonstrate problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are key, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical users. You'll be organised, adaptable, and able to manage your workload effectively, while working well both independently and as part of a team.
